Writing for Recovery project

The Dorchester-based Dorset Mental Health Forum have started up a Creative Writing Skills program for their Mental Health consumers.
Last year the group was able to collaborate with Bournemouth University to publish a book entitled:

“Our Encounters with Madness, a collection of true stories from mental health service users and their carers”

that aimed to create a greater understanding about mental health conditions. The group has just secured a grant of £8,950 from the Big Lottery Awards for All fund which will enable them to continue the group again. Also of not is that our very own Kirsty Stanley will be involved in running this group, feeding right into her interests in creative writing.

More info on Kirsty can be found at her blog of all things OT and creative writing: http://kirstyes.co.uk/
